Okay—so— there’s rules to writing. Yes, I understand that. However, I think that the rules only matter to those who don’t understand them. Once you learn the rules of writing, and I mean grammar and structure and format, then it doesn’t matter. Basically, if you know you. Know. You must also know your audience and what they expect of you. I don’t think that you have any expectation of me in terms of my cleanliness of writing. I think for now it matters what I say and how I say it and not how it looks. So, it doesn’t matter if you’re writing like me—for a blog (which I highly encourage you to write one if you’re sitting here contemplating it).
I want you to read these blogs as if I was talking to you in a normal conversation in my home.
Lastly, the rules don’t matter if you have a master’s degree in English. When you have a M.A. in English, nothing really matters. You just got it all—except a PhD haha. I already did the hard work—the degree—and wrote for some of the baddest diva professors on this planet. My writing now, and for this blog are for me and you. They are not to be critiqued (but rather discussed) and are prone to mistakes.
Again, it fully depends on the context and purpose of your writing. If you’re writing a research paper for the old man diva professor at your university, then you better write for your life!!! However, when it has room for creativity and personal purpose and mistakes—then bend the rules and make them your own.
Always remember, good or bad writing—must always have purpose.
